St. Dominic's College was started in 1965 under the management of St. Dominic's Forane Church, Kanjirapally. Kuriakose Anekatt was the first principal. St. Dominic's College was the first institution which made higher education possible in Kanjirapally. Thanks to this famous institution the level of education among the students of this region has risen considerably. The Madona Institute of Electronics was another Technical institution started by St. Dominic's Church in 1977. It was handed over to the Vincentian Congregation free of cost in 1983.

In 1992 Rev. Dr. Antony Nirappel founded the St. Antony's College of Computer Science. The college is accredited to conduct DOEACC (Dept. of Electronics, Govt. of India) courses. The 'O' level is the foundation course, 'A' level is the advanced diploma course and 'B' level is a degree course. In addition, the college is conducting PGDCA, ADCA and DCA courses.

The other private computer institutions are, The Madonna Institute of Electronics, St. George Computer Centre, Care computers, Aptech, Datapro, and the Marian Computer Centre. St. Dominic's College has started the computer oriented B.Com degree course which is a milestone in the history of computer education in Kanjirapally.

All recognized schools and CBSE schools have also started computer education in their respective school campuses
